Standard overnight rooms are available at the Doubletree Hotel for $109/night + tax. Please call for hotel reservations by March 20, 2017. Indicate you are attending the "OFMA 2D Training".
This two-day course will introduce experienced floodplain modelers to the new two-dimensional modeling feature available in Version 5 of HEC-RAS. The two-dimensional modeling capability, first introduced in August 2015, combines continuity and momentum to produce time-varying hydraulic characteristics of waterways and adjacent floodplain areas. Through the use of RAS Mapper, time-varying results can be displayed in extremely high resolution providing a continuous spatial description of the geometric and hydraulic characteristics of the waterway and adjacent floodplain area.
Topics to be presented include the theoretical basis for two-dimensional hydraulic computations, GIS basics, developing terrain models in support of 2-D modeling, 2-D data requirements, use of RAS Mapper, and incorporating boundary conditions in 2-D models. Hands-on workshops will be conducted to provide course attendees ample opportunity to learn how to develop, analyze and interpret the results of two-dimensional floodplain models.
