Cooperating Technical Partners (CTP) Information Exchange
Online - Webinar
March 29, 2017
2:00pm - 3:00pm Eastern Time
ASFPM has established a subcommittee of the Mapping and Engineering Standards Committee to focus on the Cooperating Technical Partner program. This subcommittee is co-chaired by Amanda Flegel with the Illinois State Water Survey and Thuy Patton with the Colorado Water Conservation Board. The goal is to help identify mechanisms to measure successes and share best practices among mapping partners. This web meeting is intended to help meet these goals.
A vertical datum is an established surface that serves as a reference to measure or model heights and depths. All elevation data (topography and bathymetry) is referenced to a vertical datum. There are three types of vertical datums: ellipsoidal, orthometric, and tidal. This webinar is designed to provide an understanding of the relationship between these datums, including the differences/similarities between the North American Vertical Datum of 1988 (NAVD88), the National Geodetic Vertical Datum of 1929 (NGVD29) and International Great Lakes Datum of 1985 (IGLD85). You will also learn about NOAA's available tools and data, and how to deal with mixed datums in coastal flood hazard modeling.
