DETAILS
Join in to hear how numerous partners and communities were brought together to learn about low impact development and watershed-level green infrastructure approaches that have the potential to improve local resilience to flooding and drought impacts. This webinar will focus on a regional approach used by the Resilient Taunton Watershed Network (RTWN) in the Taunton River watershed in SE Massachusetts. The presenters will talk about how they used GIS at a regional level to identify priority areas for green infrastructure sites and how they used a localized web-based tool to promote sustainable development through smart bylaws and regulations.

Presenters:
Eric J. Walberg, AICP, Senior Program Leader, Climate Services Program, Manomet. Eric manages the Climate Services program at Manomet. Recent projects include the Climate Smart Land Network (over 15 million acres of forest land in North America) and development of climate change adaptation plans for multiple sites in New England. Prior to joining Manomet, Eric was the Administrator of the Physical and Environmental Planning Department of the Hampton Roads Planning District Commission in Chesapeake, Virginia, where he focused on climate change adaptation in southeastern Virginia and oversaw the development of the first regional green infrastructure plan in the State.

Stefanie Covino, Shaping the Future of Your Community Program Coordinator, Mass Audubon, Broad Meadow Brook Conservation Center and Wildlife Sanctuary. Stefanie has a Masters of Environmental Science and Policy with extensive experience in outreach and public engagement. She is on the board of the Massachusetts Watershed Coalition as well as the Dudley Conservation Land Trust and is trained as a Keystone Cooperator. Her work with Mass Audubon’s award-winning Shaping the Future of Your Community program informs, empowers, and connects people and places to create resilient communities through smart development and targeted natural resource protection.
