Online - Webinar
August 16, 2017
1:00pm - 2:30pm Eastern Time

TRB will conduct a webinar that discusses the U.S. National Institute for Standards and Technology (NIST)ís approach toward the implementation of resilience in transportation projects. The discussion on resilience at the scientific, practical, economic, and policy level has evolved recently, and the Fixing America's Surface Transportation Act has requirements with which the transportation community must comply. This webinar will discuss the benefit-cost analysis (BCA) and economic analysis that may help assess the benefits associated with transportation resilience projects. The presenters will also discuss a case study where a project was implemented in a manner consistent with the NIST Community Resilience Planning Guide.

  1. The NIST Community Resilience Planning Guide and the economic tool for evaluating projects for resilience
  2. The state-of-the-science and practice of BCA
  3. Economic analysis tools available from the U.S Federal Highway Administration
  4. Delaware Department of Transportationís approach to implementing projects to improve resilience
  5. Question and answer session
The first 60 minutes of the webinar will be for presentations and the final 30 minutes will be reserved for audience questions. The Registered Continuing Education Program (RCEP) categorizes this webinar activity as relating to business practices.
