Guidebook Update Highlights Best Practices for Integrating Ecosystem Services into Federal Decision Making

Following release of new policy guidance directing federal agencies to begin incorporating ecosystem services in federal planning and decision making, the National Ecosystem Services Partnership (NESP) introduces updates to its online resource the Federal Resource Management and Ecosystem Services Guidebook.

The guidebook provides an overview of methods for incorporating ecosystem services into decision making and highlights relevant efforts under way by federal agencies. Updates include:

1) Content from the paper, "Best Practices for Incorporating Ecosystem Services into Decision Making," has been added.
2) Two new examples from National Park Service that have already begun exploring or applying ecosystem services in their decision processes are now online.

NESP engages public and private individuals and organizations to enhance collaboration within the ecosystem services community and to strengthen coordination of policy and market implementation and research at the national level.
