GivingTuesday is a global generosity movement that was created in 2012 as a simple idea: a day that encourages people to do good. During the past eight years, it has grown into a global movement that inspires hundreds of millions of people to give, collaborate, and celebrate generosity.
GivingTuesday is held annually the Tuesday after Thanksgiving, which means this year it’s on December 1. Nonprofits use social media to tell their stories and inspire donors to give. Donors also use their social media to share why they give and encourage their friends to give as well.
Interestingly over 70% of people who choose to donate on GivingTuesday typically give $20 to the nonprofit(s) that appeal to them and only give on GivingTuesday. Because of the volume of people who participate in the day of giving, it’s become almost like crowd-funding for many small- to medium-size nonprofits.
ASFPM Foundation will again be participating in GivingTuesday. All donations to the foundation on GivingTuesday will be donated to the Future Leaders Scholarship fund. Their goal for 2020 is to raise enough money to fund a full year of this scholarship. Please mark your calendars and consider giving.
